HD Radio App Reviews

Gigaware HD receiver is junk!

Works ok when you first plug it in. Once you unplug it and try to use it again, not so much. I can no longer us it as a radio tuner; it just plays my music files. The only way I could get it to work again was to uninstall the app and reinstall. Of course, it stops working again when you unplug it. (Im using an iPhone 4s). Good luck finding online support! JUNK!!

Ok app

Wish it would stay on the tuning screen rather than switch to the Facebook/twitter icons- dont care about that. If it stops working after you have unplugged and plugged back in, you need to unplug, press home twice and then quit the app from the list of recently run applications - then start HD radio app again. I assume the app initializes the tuner when first run, and if the app is running while the radio is plugged in, its not initialized.

NIce but could be better

The hardware is outstanding but the supporting app needs more work. You have to frequently clear the app from Multitasking any time you leave the app and try to go back into it or any time you unplug the hardware and plug it back in. Its not a major problem but it get iritating enough to only call for 3 stars. I also dont like the limited settings. I would love to have the ability to disable the page with links to twitter and Facebook. I would also like the ability for the in line remote to flip through my favorites rather then tune from station to station. The whole point in getting the receiver with inline remote is control it through the remote. I shouldnt have to go back to my iTouch screen to flip to anotehr favorite station. Overall i cant complain much more then that. I only paid $6.33 for it at Radio Shack on clearence. I got the one with the in line remote. The other option that was just the HD receiver was priced $10 more. oh well. Wonder if there are any other compatible apps for this hardware.

Its okay

This app is a little odd and maybe a little underdeveloped, but it does work. Each time you use it, you may need to reboot the app by double clicking the home button, holding your finger over the icon until a red minus sign appears on the icon, then tapping the minus sign. This will most likely address the aforementioned problems.

Needs ios3 support

Wish my device would work on my Iphone 2g, oh well :/

This app has everything I could want or ask for.

This app works well and my radio works better then any radio of its size I have ever used. So glad I got it. Plus my headphone jack on my iPod was shorting out and this fixes that problem and gives me a great remote I can use for more then just this app.

Good; improvements could help it.

Basically I like this, I paid $10 at RadioShack for the hardware. The most desirable change would be that the hardware buttons forward and back should scroll through FAVORITES by default; not through the radio dial. 1. Dump Apple ads - I just paid $10 for the hardware! The web frequently asked questions says that the app does not have ads - that is a LIE! 2. Dump Facebook/Twitter integration, or move it to another tab. It gets in my way. Who uses this stuff anyway? 3. Add station phone number, so we can call in on contests. 4. Add station TYPE on the favorites page. For instance: country/ rock/ NPR/ etc. - or allow us to add text to the station. -- For instance I live in downtown Phoenix Arizona, and three stations had no identifier; and though I favorite it, I cannot add or type any station info alongside the blank station space! 5. Add start up autoscan feature. Hardware works on my iPod music too. I like that. Thanks!

Cant get it to work on iPhone 4s

Picked this up on clearance at Radio Shack for $6, so I cant really complain too much. First thing I noticed is that I couldnt get it to work with my iPhone 4s. The app loads but it apparently doesnt recognize the radio attachment. No sound through either the jack on the device or on the iPhone itself. On my new iPad (3) however, it worked just fine. Now they just need to update the app to be iPad native. Pros: 1. cheap; device was $6 and the app was free 2. nice features for controlling not only the radio from the app but using the device as a remote control for the Music app Cons: 1. no iPhone 4s support (yet) 2. cant seem to tune in anything except "normal" FM stations; could be that no broadcasters in my area are broadcasting HD yet (Eastern Shore, MD) 3. app is not iPad native (and definitely not Retina iPad native) 4. would be nice if the audio could go through the device speaker instead of just the headphone jacks

Works greats

This works on my iPhone and iPad. Just need to restart app when reconnecting hardware, and make sure headphones are connected (antenna). I love it.

Crash

Running it on an ipod touch. App works fine at first. Once you unplug the hardware the app crashes and freezes. You have to remove and reload the app when this happens. This also means you have to resave your favorites every time. You can use the mute button to stop the sound of the radio to listen to you own music, then pause your music and unmute the radio to switch back, but if you unplug the hardware then youll have to start over again. So every time you have to charge up, or update you will have to reload this app before you can use it.

Crashes after first use

The app runs fine the first time i use it. However after that it just crashes on load. This happens on my iPod touch 4g. Didnt have this problem on my 2nd gen iPod touch though.

Need update need on & off button

Need update on off button and too hassle to uninstall the app and install again in order to listen radio again

Ads in app

Not sure why you would pay $12 for a addon and have to use a app to run it that has ads in it... So the sounds breaks up from time to time with a full signal.

Wth?

Worked barely the first time. Doesnt do squat afterwards. Bought it cheap a while ago, but thought with iOS 5.1 it might be fixed by now. Hah.

It works but

There are many things that need to be fixed. 1. The social media really gets in the way. 2. I need to restart the phone if I want to use this app again. 3. Needs integration with the status bar so that the music will fade out while VoiceOver is talking. Four. It also needs an option to manually tune rather than just the scan option.

Worst App Ever

IBiquity Digital Corp should apologize for unleashing an atrocity such as this HD Radio app. It does not work, period. Dont bother downloading or buying the HD Radio tuner.

Awesome!!!

Not really sure why this app gets such bad reviews. Easy as pie! I went to Radio Shack, bought the adaptor, plugged it in and have been listening to flawless HD radio ever since. If you give this app a bad review, then you are doing something wrong!!

Make ads go away

Ill give $0.99 for the paid app version that makes the ads, Twitter and Facebook cr@p go away. That, and add Volume, Mute controls, and real app support -- then youll have something worth buying. Until then, its more annoying than useful.

Annoying Ads

This app could have been so much better without the ads. Having the tuner wheel disappear on its own is another annoyance. bug: The bottom radio preset is cut off behind the bottom iAd!

Mediocre app but it works.

Some improvements to the app: 1. When I select the "favorites" button, the controls of the scroll wheel change so that when you scroll, you switch between saved channels. However when I press the seek buttons, it doesnt switch to another favorite channel. 2. Sometimes I have to scroll half of the wheel, then after that, only a slight bit. Maybe change it so that you only have to move it a bit on the first time? 3. Removing the ad would be nice, and the share feature always drops down instead of just showing the tuner all the time. I would gladly pay a dollar for it to be changed.
